STOP THE INDIVIDUALITY!

ONE BODY, ONE MISSION, ONE TEAM

EA Training

A company can be compared to a human body in a number of ways. Just as the body is made up of various organs and systems that work together to keep us functioning, a company is made up of various departments and functions that work together to keep the business running smoothly.

In many ways, the relationship between a CEO and his or her EAs can be compared to the relationship between the brain and the various organs and systems of the human body.

Just as the brain coordinates and controls the actions of the body, the CEO serves as the central decision-maker and leader of the company, setting strategy and directing the actions of the various departments and functions.

Meanwhile, the EAs, much like the organs and systems of the body, play a critical role in supporting the CEO and carrying out the tasks necessary to keep the company running smoothly.

For example, an executive assistant may be responsible for managing the CEO's schedule and coordinating meetings, much like the body's circulatory system transports oxygen and nutrients to the various cells and tissues. They may also help the CEO prepare for presentations and meetings, much like the body's digestive system breaks down food and converts it into energy.

In addition, EAs may serve as a "gatekeeper" for the CEO, much like the body's immune system protects against illness and disease. They may screen and filter incoming requests and communication, helping to protect the CEO's time and attention for the most important tasks.

That said, it is important for EAs to be honest, direct, and remind the CEO of errors or issues within the company. In doing so, the executive assistant can work with the CEO to find a solution and address the issue.

In order to help prevent mistakes, misunderstandings, and ensure efficient workflow within the company, EAs should also do the following:

  • Do proper documentation on the task management board and KPI board
  • Check-in with the CEO regarding any updates or changes.
  • When communicating, be sure to be clear and concise about what needs to be done, as well as any deadlines or important details.
